MDMA Statement on House Passage of the Updated “21st Century Cures Act”


WASHINGTON, DC – Mark Leahey, President and CEO of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA), issued the following statement today regarding the House passage of the updated “21st Century Cures Act:”


“MDMA applauds the bipartisan work that resulted in this comprehensive legislation which will spur patient access to the cures and therapies of tomorrow.

“The 21st Century Cures Act provides a boost in resources that will empower regulators, policy makers, innovators and other stakeholders to strengthen their partnerships as they all work towards the common goal of improving patient outcomes.

“MDMA has long advocated for improvements to our nation’s regulatory and reimbursement frameworks to meet the cutting edge developments being made by med tech innovators, and this legislation seeks to address some of these challenges.

“Patients and providers are always the beneficiaries of sound policy, and the 21st Century Cures Act will have a profound impact on the delivery of health care.”
