AGA Technology Summit

Conference Co-Chairs Pankaj Pasricha, MD, Joel V. Brill, MD, Robert D. Fanelli, MD, and Michael L. Kochman, MD, have assembled a prominent faculty of leaders in the physician, med tech, regulatory and investor communities. This high-profile faculty will closely examine the driving forces behind the commercialization of new medical technologies, specifically in the GI space.

Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (CA-18) and Thomas J. Fogarty, MD, PhD, have accepted to serve as invited guest speaker and keynote speaker, respectively. Rep. Eshoo is co-chair of the Medical Technology Caucus and a leader in Congress on issues affecting high-technology, telecommunications and the Internet. Dr. Fogarty is chairman, director and founder of the Fogarty Institute for Innovation. He is a shining example of the entrepreneurial spirit, which has cultivated his passion for innovation and has allowed him to serve in leadership positions for more than 30 organizations.

Through collaboration with SAGES, the 2014 program incorporates unique perspectives on developing minimally invasive technologies that meet today’s most significant clinical challenges. Attendees will hear from both gastroenterologists and GI surgeons on what they feel is needed for continued innovation within the GI space.

Among other topics to be explored, but not limited to, are:

  • The current outlook of digestive health
  • Presentations of new novel technologies
  • Important GI deals from 2013
  • Progress updates from the December AGA-FDA workshop on regulatory and reimbursement paradigms
  • Strategies to help companies be more successful in the future
The summit will take place at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins, March 20 and 21, 2014, in San Francisco, CA. Discounted registration for the summit is still available until Wednesday, March 5.
