Despite over a decade of policy promises, patients still face myriad paper forms and PDFs while doctors spend up to 87 percent of their day typing. Care remains expensive, inaccessible, and incomplete, with a primary care physician’s day estimated at 27 hours if they complete all recommended tasks.

Many processes in health care delivery remain human-driven and manual, akin to a Boeing 747 without digital controls or autopilot. Automation and artificial intelligence can potentially decrease the burden of administrative process, augment human capital, and automate elements of clinical practice, freeing clinicians to focus on the most meaningful challenges.

Join AEI’s Brian J. Miller and a diverse panel for a discussion on the US Food and Drug Administration’s oversight, product liability, payment, and the ethics of automation.
